A speaker you can watch. LEDs flicker with the music behind three glass cylinders that amplify the light, and the sound comes from a single full-range driver designed for clear vocals. It runs on its battery for about seven hours, so it moves from desk to table.

XD — You and the thing.

Any speaker plays music. This one is chosen for what it adds to the room while it plays, and that is a matter of taste.

Lineage

Made by BALMUDA · Curated by Hexmonde

BALMUDA is a Tokyo design company known for objects that rethink an everyday appliance. Its speaker is designed around live music: vocals up front, and light that follows the beat.

Three Kinds of Light

Candle mode gives a calm, flickering glow. Ambient mode follows the music gently. Beat mode syncs the light fully to the music; BALMUDA times the sync at 0.004 seconds.
