A clock with no hands. The hour glows as a numeral and a ring of light counts the minutes and seconds around it. On the hour it chimes and the dial swings like a pendulum. The body takes its shape from a pocket watch, three inches across.

XD — You and the thing.

It tells the time, wakes you, and runs a timer. The reason to choose it is how it does that: time shown as light, and sound used to start and end the day. That part is personal.

Lineage

Made by BALMUDA · Curated by Hexmonde

BALMUDA is a Tokyo design company known for objects that rethink an everyday appliance, from a toaster to a lantern. This clock is built from more than 200 parts, including a carved aluminum body.

Light, Then Sound

Seventy-five LEDs draw the dial. Relax Time plays calming sounds for the evening: rain on leaves, a boat on a wide river, a lodge fire. Ambient sound begins three minutes before the alarm time, so waking comes in gradually. The timer runs from 1 to 60 minutes with white noise underneath.
